The High Priestess

“The High Priestess” follows the first step of my journey by turning inward, away from the external leap of faith, and toward the quiet, sacred voice within. As the second card of the Major Arcana, the High Priestess represents intuition, inner knowing, and the mysteries that sit beneath the surface of everyday life.

When I wrote this track, I felt as though I was being asked to slow down and pay attention to things I usually ignore. The High Priestess doesn’t demand action: she calls for awareness. She reminds me that intuition is a form of guidance just as real as reason, that some truths are felt long before they’re understood. This song became my way of honouring that inner voice, the one that often whispers the answers I’m not ready to hear.

In the larger journey of this project, “The High Priestess” is the moment where The Fool begins to realize that the path ahead isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, spiritual, and deeply internal. The naïve optimism of the first step softens into curiosity:
What is my intuition trying to tell me?
What have I been missing by not listening closely enough?

She teaches that not every leap needs to be outward. Some of the biggest shifts happen in silence, in reflection, in stillness, in the space where the soul turns inward.

For me, this track is a reminder that growth requires both movement and pause. The High Priestess holds the pause: the quiet moment of listening before the next step is taken. “The High Priestess” is the whisper beneath the noise, the calm beneath the leap, and the place where this journey deepens by asking us to trust the truth that lives within.

Writing this song felt like entering that soft, hidden realm: where truth doesn’t shout, it whispers.

Atmospherically, this track moves differently from The Fool. Where that song was bright and open, “The High Priestess” is more spacious, dreamy, and introspective. The electric guitar drifts like a mist-ambient, fluid, almost suspended in air. It creates a landscape where everything feels slowed down, softened, and slightly otherworldly. In that space, the focus shifts from the outer journey to the inner one.

Lyrically, this song is a gentle calling inward, a reminder to listen.
Lines like “listen close darling child, baby you are missing out” carry the voice of the High Priestess herself: patient, calm, knowing. She isn’t scolding; she’s inviting. Inviting us to notice what we overlook when we move too quickly or doubt ourselves. Inviting us to trust the instincts we’ve learned to quiet. Inviting us to return to the parts of ourselves that speak in symbols, feelings, and subtleties rather than logic.
